Go to other hotels in Athens. I want to save you problems. I booked this and upon arrival, the host was quick to swipe my card and then say, "we are without internet, I hope that's not a problem." That was a problem as my main purpose that I needed the hotel was for the internet, to work in the evening and morning. I can overlook smells, things not working, and grime. The desk person said he was going to contact his manager. He texted. He gave me her business card and told me to contact her. Upon saying "that's not good, can I talk to her now or soon? I'm needing internet to work and that's part of why I'm there." After he said, I already swiped your card and having another gentleman in the lobby (may have worked there) basically say "suck it up and deal with it", I went to check my room. That's where overlooking smells, things not working (air unit to try to get rid of the smell), and grime applied and I said, "I can't do this." Went back while trying to connect with another hotel and the person at the desk told me to go ahead and book because he was 90% sure I would be refunded. I said, I can wait till the manager gets back to him/me. He encouraged me not too and that he was sure because of my Choice status that it would be reimbursed and asked that I not write a review. I said I wouldn't as long as someone has a conversation with me. That never happened. No one contacted me and the amount was not reimbursed. So I emailed the person on the card and stated the above situation. She replied and said she'd get back to me. I waited a week and that didn't happen. So I reached out again and called the hotel. Nothing from the general manager. The man at the desk was the same individual I worked with. He put me on hold but somehow I heard both conversations he had with people checking in. Same deal with them. One had an issue. He smooth talked them. Then after waiting he said, the manager would get back to me. She still hasn't. I reached out again to her via email and this time I looked at the receipt they issued. The time isn't accurate for when I technically should have been credited with leaving and checking out (I did within an hour as I looked to book another hotel and waited to see if the manager would at least reach out to the front desk guy.) So if you book this one, beware. I ended up staying at the Holiday Inn which was wonderful. Maybe it's the day of age that we live in but the whole stalling and not responding within due time is sad. I talked with the same guy who was at the front desk again. He at least understood that I was trying to be kind by waiting to write a review. We'll see what happens. I also was clued into other Choice hotels that if you have a problem, the folks working at them said complain right away - that's how upper management listens. That's sad too.
